VERSE 55:
I remembered Thy name in the night,
O Lord, and I kept Thy law.

What we should primarily dwell upon in all our troubles: fear God and keep His commandments.
In the night: in sorrowful circumstances of life, in time of temptation.

Remembrance of God is the source of every comfort.
Glorify God at all times, by day and by night (= in time of affliction)

VERSE 56:
This hath happened unto me
Because  sought after Thy statutes.

This  = God’s remembrance (see v.55) = the reason I sought after God’s statutes, and vice versa: seeking His statutes strengthen the remembrance.

Having sought to please God through walking in His holy will, abide in the unceasing remembrance of God, totally devoting yourself to God and expecting from Him assistance for every good undertaking.
