VERSE 46:
And I spake of Thy testimonies before kings,
and I was not ashamed.

Hope –> fearless and courageous testimony of God’s truth.
Sure that God will protect him in all things. Cf. martyrs.
Our duty to preach God’s word everywhere.

VERSE 47:
And I meditated on Thy commandments
which I have greatly loved.

Hope –> we seek the one thing needful. We are only preoccupied with how to understand and fulfill the commandments, this is our priority, the rest comes after.
Otherwise, it’s like walking upside down –> confusion, rebellion, ruin in society.

What would Theophan say if he lived today!!

VERSE 48:
And I lifted up my hands to Thy commandments, which I have loved,
and I pondered on Thy statutes.

Hope –> unwavering, patience in doing good.
Pondered  = ἤδολεσχουν = to apply oneself, to abide patiently in godliness.
Steadfastness comes from love, which never fails
To get there, we inspire ourselves through hope.
Study of the commandments –> action  (lifted up my hands)
