After discovering the life of Elder Arsenie Papacioc through the book Eternity in the Moment, I decided to delve deeper by reading Every Sigh can be a Prayer.

It is a collection of his sayings and teachings, organized under 19 themes, themes related to monastic life, but also to life in the world, for instance on marriage and raising children.

Through his deep life of prayer and his many hours serving as a confessor, he had an amazing ability to address the complexities of modern life with very inspiring and practical spiritual advice.

As highlighted in the title, Father Arsenie’s emphasis is on Continuous Awareness of God, which he really cultivated to the max. He teaches that “every moment is a taste of eternity and every sigh can be a prayer,” highlighting often how beneficial it is, compared to mechanical prayer.
Incidentally, authors and editors took this sentence and made with it the title of the two books dedicated to this elder: Eternity in the Moment, and Every Sigh Can Be a Prayer.

I was also struck by his balance between strictness and gentleness.

The book is a strong encouragement to live a life of deep engagement with Christ in all aspects of life, urging us readers to wake up from spiritual slumber. It can be a source of profound spiritual guidance, offering practical wisdom rooted in the remarkable life and deep faith of Elder Arsenie Papacioc.

There are recordings of him available. The videos just last a few minutes, and they are all subtitled in English.

MY VERDICT:
Urging a vibrant, present, and prayer-filled life rooted in Christ.

    • Planning to add one next week, when I have resolved one technical issue.
Also, I just added the link to the youtube plyalist that I included in the previous review. They are short videos and all subtitled in good English

  1. Thank you for the linked playlist to clips of the Elder speaking. Even with subtitles, it’s very good to see the person when we are able to! I have listened to several of them, very wise teaching. The one on the Mother of God was especially inspiring, brimming with his love for her.
